Shanna & CJ Whiteside were married this past April at the Herlong Mansion in Micanopy, FL. You couldn’t ask for a more wonderful experience working with a couple. From the start, Shanna and CJ had a vision for their wedding – southern vintage garden style including handmade items. And they pulled it off beautifully without overdoing any element. Shanna’s Jasmine gown from Solutions Bridal was adorned with the most beautiful lace, simply classic elegance. Each bridesmaid had a unique Jim Hjelm dress that complemented Shanna’s while adding to the garden feel. Shanna wore flowers in her hair as did her bridesmaids from etsy. CJ wore a fabulously classy JCrew pinstripe suit with pocket squares, which as it turns out, came in extremely handy in the Florida heat!
Details were of prime importance to Shanna & CJ. They really honed in on their theme and expressed their personalities at the same time. CJ made the invitation himself complete with wax seal (sweet!) and Shanna scoured etsy for unique elements to round out their wedding day details line up. Shanna found an adorable garter to show her pride in marrying a law enforcement officer – check out this garter! Handcuffs and a badge! The puffy tissue balls were there from another wedding and they were just so cute, Shanna didn’t have them taken down. Their engagement book was made by yours truly! Nothing says vintage like pearls and Shanna’s necklace from etsy did not disappoint. Add in a vintage picture frame pin made by CJ’s mom for the gown hung from a custom “Mrs. Whiteside” hanger, some custom vintage signs, and you have a fabulously coordinated event!
Shanna’s florals were just gorgeous. Prange’s Florist did an amazing job on the bouquets, centerpieces, and boutonnieres. I can’t get enough of the color scheme either. Isn’t this all just executed meticulously well? Pearls, lace, diamonds, roses, kitten heels, beautiful outdoor space. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
I’m not sure who was more adorable, the flower girl or the flower pooch! Shanna & CJ love their pup Madden and were able to have her part of the ceremony thanks to the Herlong Mansion’s flexible outdoor space. Their sweet pupper-dogger of course had to be dolled up appropriately with another etsy find – a seersucker dog collar & matching leash. They walked down the aisle adorned with decorated mason jars (by Shanna & her mom) filled with gorgeous flowers. It was really touching the way that CJ came down to fetch Shanna from her dad. I’d never seen that before. Love it.
Shanna & CJ also made it a point to use local businesses for as much of their wedding related needs as possible. Shanna’s engagement ring by Roger Hunt & Son and bands by The Lady Jeweler, both in Ocala, FL. Aren’t the details of the Herlong Mansion just gorgeous? Apothecary jars designed by Shanna. Table cards designed by CJ.
The tented reception party with friends and family boogied down to G’NYS Entertainment’s Jarad Bowens mad turntable skills & enjoyed delicious food from Custom Caterers. Leila Dylla made the scrumptious cupcakes. Cheesecake Factory made a very yummy groom’s cake! The fabulous day ended with some sweet portraits of the two of them in the perfect afternoon light after driving away from their wedding in CJ’s dad’s, um, tricked out golf cart! I’m pretty sure they went muddin’ after we left. 😉 Oh, Micanopy, FL… could we expect anything less?
Thanks Shanna & CJ for including us in your day. It’s easy to tell you’re in love. And that makes our job easy. <3
